- Detailed study of both horoscopes

Kundli Matching Consultation for Marriage
Beyond the 36-Point Score
A free kundli matching tool will give you a number out of 36. It will not tell you whether two people should marry.
The Ashtakoot system measures eight parameters between two moon signs. It is a genuine part of Vedic astrology and a reasonable starting point. But it does not read the seventh house of either chart, the placement of Venus and Jupiter, the dasha periods each person is entering, Navamsa compatibility, or the timing that will actually shape the marriage. A score of 30 can sit above two difficult charts. A score of 16 can sit above a marriage that lasts fifty years.
A kundli matching consultation with Sundeep Kochar examines both horoscopes in full — and, uniquely, both palms and both faces. Two people are assessed, not eight parameters.
If You Have Been Told the Match Is Wrong
Many people arrive at this consultation after a score has already caused alarm. A low Guna total. A Manglik reading. Bhakoot or Nadi dosha. Sometimes a warning that the marriage will fail, followed by an expensive remedy offered to prevent it.
That warning is very often overstated, and the remedy is very often unnecessary.
A low score is not a verdict. It is one indicator among many, and it is regularly outweighed by strong planetary placements, supportive dasha periods and Navamsa compatibility — a point even the platforms selling remedies concede in their own material. A Manglik placement is common, frequently balanced, and not a reason on its own to end a proposal.
Sundeep Kochar does not sell gemstones, yantras or paid rituals, and does not recommend expensive ceremonies to "correct" a match. If two charts genuinely indicate difficulty, you will be told plainly what the difficulty is and how it tends to show up in a marriage. If they do not, you will be told that too — and you will not be sold anything either way.
Second opinions are a substantial part of this practice.
"The stars indicate. They do not dictate."
What the Consultation Examines
Both horoscopes are studied using the date, time and place of birth of each person.
The charts
- The seventh house of each chart, its ruling planet and its strength
- Placement of Venus and Jupiter, and the aspects affecting married life
- Ashtakoot Guna Milan, examined parameter by parameter rather than as a total
- Navamsa compatibility
- Manglik placement in both charts, and whether it is balanced
- Bhakoot, Nadi and other doshas — what they indicate and what they do not
- Dasha and transit periods each person is entering
- Indications around children, finances and family life
The palms Marriage lines, heart line, the mounts, and the temperament each hand indicates — read directly in person, or from clear photographs for remote consultations.
The faces Structure and expression, read for temperament, emotional patterns and how each person is likely to respond under pressure.
Chart compatibility and lived compatibility are not always the same thing. Reading all three disciplines is what allows the difference to be seen.
Who Books This Consultation
Families comparing proposals. Where two or three matches are under consideration, each can be assessed against the same criteria so the comparison is meaningful rather than instinctive.
Couples in a love marriage seeking family acceptance. Where astrology has become the obstacle rather than the question, a considered reading from a recognised authority often changes a family conversation.
Anyone who has been given an alarming score. A second opinion on a low Guna total, a Manglik reading or a dosha.
Cross-border matches. One chart from India, one from abroad, families in two countries and differing expectations. Frequently requested by NRI families.
Second marriages. Where an earlier marriage has ended and both the chart and the concerns are different.
Couples already married. Where recurring conflict, distance or a difficult period needs understanding rather than a compatibility verdict.
Parents booking on behalf of a son or daughter. Common, and welcome. Birth details for both individuals are needed, and the couple is welcome to attend.

2. Confirm and pay. Payment secures the slot. UPI, bank transfer, and debit and credit cards accepted; PayPal or card for international clients.
3. Share details for both individuals. Before the session:
- Date of birth
- Time of birth, as accurate as each can be established
- Place of birth
- Your specific concerns — including any score or reading you have already been given
For remote consultations, clear photographs of both palms and the face of each person, where palmistry and face reading are to be included. For in-person sessions, no photographs are needed.
4. Attend the consultation. In person at the Andheri West office, or remotely by WhatsApp, phone, Zoom or Google Meet.
5. Receive the assessment. A clear reading of where the two charts support each other, where friction is indicated and how it tends to appear, favourable periods for marriage, and a direct answer to the question you came with. You are welcome to record the session.
For an in-person session at the Mumbai office, see Personal Astrology Consultation. For clients outside India, see Consultation for NRIs and International Clients.
A 60-minute session is recommended where two or more proposals are being compared, where both individuals wish to take part, or where a marriage is already under strain.

Frequently Asked Questions
How many Gunas out of 36 are needed for marriage?
Eighteen is widely cited as an acceptable threshold, and it is a reasonable rule of thumb. It is not a decision. The total conceals which parameters matched and which did not, and it says nothing about the seventh house, Venus and Jupiter placement, dasha periods or Navamsa compatibility. Two charts scoring 30 can be poorly suited; two scoring 18 can be well suited. The score is where the assessment begins.
We got a low score. Should we call off the marriage?
Not on that basis alone. A low total is one indicator, and it is frequently outweighed by favourable placements and supportive planetary periods. A full assessment of both charts is what settles the question - not the number. Many clients book this consultation precisely because a score has caused alarm.
One of us is Manglik. Is that a serious problem?
Manglik placement is common, and often less consequential than it is made to sound. Where both individuals have it, the effect is generally considered balanced. Where only one does, the significance depends on which house Mars occupies, its strength, and what else the chart shows. It is assessed in context rather than treated as an automatic obstacle.
Will I be asked to perform expensive remedies?
No. Sundeep Kochar does not sell gemstones, yantras or paid rituals, and does not recommend costly ceremonies to correct a match. Where a practical suggestion is useful it may be discussed, but nothing is sold. If you have been told that a marriage requires an expensive remedy to succeed, a second opinion is worth having.
How is this different from a free kundli matching report?
A free tool calculates Ashtakoot compatibility between two moon signs — eight parameters, one score. This consultation examines both horoscopes in full, both palms and both faces, and answers your specific questions directly. It also gives you an assessment you can question and discuss, which a generated report cannot. Most importantly it is like a pre-marital counselling.
Can you assess more than one proposal?
Yes, and it is a common request. Each is examined against the same criteria so the comparison is genuine. A 60-minute session is recommended where more than one match is under consideration. (Maximum two).
Can this be done without the other person's involvement?
Their birth details are required; date, time and place. Their participation is not, though palmistry and face reading can only be included for someone whose photographs are available or who attends.
What if we don't know an exact time of birth?
Even an approximate birth-time range of 3–4 hours can be worked with. By analysing your personality traits, significant past events and present circumstances, the birth time can often be narrowed down, as each ascendant generally lasts for about two hours.
We are already married and things are difficult. Is this consultation appropriate?
Yes. Many clients consult after marriage rather than before, wanting to understand a recurring pattern or a difficult period rather than seeking a verdict on compatibility. The 60-minute session suits this better.
Can parents book on behalf of their son or daughter?
Yes, and many do. Birth details for both individuals are needed. The couple is welcome to attend, and often the conversation is more useful when they do.
One of us lives abroad. Can we still consult?
Yes. Remote sessions are held across time zones, and cross-border matches are among the most frequently requested. See Consultation for NRIs and International Clients.
Is the consultation in Hindi or English?
Either; whichever you are more comfortable with.
Is it confidential?
Yes. Every session is private. Nothing discussed is shared, and client identities are never disclosed.
Can I record the session?
Yes, for your own reference.
